Let me introduce myself… I’m Gema, a hairdresser born and bred in Coventry. I’m a proud mum of two children and three gorgeous furry boys—Prince, Kobi, and Duggee.
I’ve been involved in dog rescue for around 15 years, spending 10 of those in a very hands-on role with Sukis Canine Rescue. Rescue isn’t just something I do—it’s my passion. Over the years, I’ve fostered more than 100 dogs, giving them the care, love, and second chance they deserve.
Now, I feel ready to take the next step and do even more. My mission is to open a rescue centre dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs who find themselves abandoned or unwanted. It’s a huge task, but I’m ready to fight for what I believe in.
I’m lucky to have some incredible people ready to take this journey with me—and together, I truly believe we’ll succeed. But help from the public is desperately needed too

Cecil, Stanley, and Desmond- and yes they all look the same 🤣
Elisha is a physically active member of the team that brings bags of dog experience. Elisha has a great work ethic and contributes heavily to making the mission of a rescue centre a possibility not just a vision.
" I have built a life around my deep love for dogs, working as a dog walker and sitter for nearly eight years. My experience goes beyond the everyday, having supported a rescue where ive helped dogs socialise and build their confidence before they have gone on to find their forever homes. It was during this time i adopted my third dog Desmond"
"I find joy in the simple, beautiful moments like sunrise and sunset walks with my boys, exploring stunning places like the Peak District and Wales, and capturing those memories through photos.
Looking ahead, my goal of working with Gema is to create a safe haven for dogs that are unwanted, abandoned or have been failed. I have compassion and determination and am driven by my belief that every dog deserves a second chance because, in my eyes, dogs truly are better than humans"

Meet our volunteer Home checkers, fundraisers and Dog walkers
Our Incredible Volunteers
Behind every dog that finds their forever home is an amazing team of volunteers who give their time, energy, and dedication to help make it happen.
Today, we'd like to shine a spotlight on our wonderful home checkers, fundraisers, and dog walkers. These incredible people work tirelessly behind the scenes, often without recognition, but their contribution to our rescue is absolutely invaluable.
🏡 Our Home Checkers play a vital role in every successful adoption. They are the bridge between foster care and a dog's forever home, helping us ensure that every potential home is safe, suitable, and the right match for both the dog and the family. Their thorough assessments help protect our dogs and give them the very best chance of a happy, secure future. Without them, we simply couldn't place dogs with confidence.
💙 Our Fundraisers are the heartbeat of our rescue. Every event they organise, every raffle they run, and every pound they help raise enables us to continue rescuing dogs in need. Veterinary care, food, transport, rehabilitation, and day-to-day running costs all rely on the generosity of supporters and the dedication of our fundraising team. Without their hard work, we simply couldn't continue to save lives.
🐾 Our Dog Walkers provide so much more than exercise. Regular walks help keep our dogs physically healthy, mentally stimulated, and emotionally balanced while they wait for their forever families. For many dogs, those daily walks reduce stress, build confidence, and prevent unwanted behaviours that can develop through boredom or lack of stimulation. Their time and commitment make a real difference to each dog's wellbeing.
Every single one of these volunteers gives their own time freely because they care deeply about the dogs we rescue. Their kindness, compassion, and commitment allow us to do what we do every single day.
To each and every one of you—thank you. Your dedication doesn't go unnoticed, and our rescue simply wouldn't be the same without you. You are an essential part of our team, and together we're giving dogs the second chance they deserve. ❤️🐶
